  Proposed Developments DWH

Eastergate

The adopted Arun Local Plan includes a strategic allocation for up to 3,000 homes around Barnham, Eastergate and Westergate. Barratt David Wilson have an interest in the northernmost part of this allocation, to the north of Barnham Road. After undertaking a programme of consultation and engagement (full details to be published on this website and made widely available locally) we intend to submit a full planning application for residential development this winter. Our proposals relate closely to the first phase of the proposed realignment scheme for the A29, which is being progressed by West Sussex County Council as a separate planning application.

Our proposed development is envisaged to comprise:

  • About 551 homes, including a range of sizes and tenures to meet identified local need
  • New road access from Barnham Road and the proposed route of the A29
  • Formal and informal public open space
  • Substantial landscape buffer to the eastern boundary
  • Ecology enhancement area through and around the site
  • Provision of part of the Coast to South Downs green/lesiure link, following the route of the existing public right of way

Through November we will be seeking views from the local community before a formal planning application is submitted to Arun District Council.

Our application will incorporate an area of land originally allocated in the Eastergate Neighbourhood Plan, which has an existing planning permission for 60 units originally obtained by Linden Homes (reference EG/6/18/RES).
