Land South of Chalton Lane, Clanfield

Barratt David Wilson Homes is preparing a planning application for submission to East Hampshire District Council proposing the development of up to 200 new homes on land to the south of Chalton Lane. The proposals will also include extensive public open space, pedestrian and cycle connections, landscape enhancements, the retention and improvement of public rights of way crossing the site, and a new vehicle access from Chalton Lane.


A community consultation event is being held on Wednesday 26th February 2025 between 16:00 – 20:00 at The Clanfield Centre, Endal Way, Clanfield PO8 0YF. This is a public event that provides the opportunity to view and comment on the proposals in their current draft form and speak to members of the project team. KEY FEATURES:


• Site Access – Vehicular access is proposed from Chalton Lane.

• Semi-Natural Green Space – Open space is provided to enhance and restore natural habitats and provide recreation

• PRoW – Multiple Public Rights of Way run through the site, these have informed the design of the layout with open space features located along desire lines for ease of public access.

• Residential Housing – Up to 200 homes are proposed on the site of mixed type and tenure.

• Buffer Planting – Buffer planting functions to improve site ecology as well as provide visual amenity.

• Retained Planting – Existing vegetation is to be retained where applicable to provide screening from existing dwellings and utilised to create a mature setting.

• Play Spaces – Play area for a range of ages located centrally within the site.

• SuDS – Sustainable urban drainage systems are to be integrated within the site to assist in surface water management and provide ecological features.
